Ultramarinos Surf School

A school in and out of the ocean

At Ultramarinos, we love surfing because of its direct relationship with the ocean, the landscapes, and everything it demands from you: training, care, adaptation, and growth.

The project is built on an educational approach. We are constantly looking for better ways to teach, adapting to each person, working in small groups, and giving close attention so each student understands the ocean, gains autonomy, and enjoys the process.

From this way of working, training, academic support, and community emerge naturally. They give the school continuity throughout the year. They are not separate services; they complete the learning process, support it, and allow the experience to go beyond the water.

Everything comes back to the same idea: growing in and out of the ocean.

Behind Ultramarinos

I’m David, a surfer with more than 20 years of experience on the Galician coast, a teacher, and an electrical engineer. Before working professionally in surfing, I also competed in swimming, tennis, and rugby – experiences that shaped the way I understand sport: consistency, technique, teamwork, and adaptability

Ultramarinos Surf School was born from a personal decision: to change the way I live and work and build a project more connected to the ocean, the coast, and people. A school where I can teach, share, and give more value to everyday life.

A Coruña beaches

We move to different beaches depending on the conditions.

Orzán and Matadero Beaches

Located in the heart of the city and just a few steps from our school, Orzán and Matadero are the main surf beaches in A Coruña. In general, Orzán is more suitable for newer surfers, while Matadero requires a higher level.

Sabón Beach, Arteixo

Sabón is a large beach where we can find breaks for different levels. It is a useful spot for a wide range of students.

Barrañán Beach, Arteixo

Barrañán is one of the classic surf spots on our coast. It is generally better suited to intermediate and advanced surfers, with conditions that change significantly between winter and summer.

Caión Beach, Laracha

Caión is a smaller beach that we recommend for intermediate-level students. It offers good conditions once you already have a solid base and want to keep refining your surfing.

Razo Beach, Carballo

Razo is one of the best-known beaches among Galician surfers. With almost six kilometers of sand and a wide variety of peaks, it is suitable for many levels and is one of the best places to improve technique.

Baldaio Beach, Carballo

Baldaio is another major surf spot in Carballo, with around four kilometers of beach. We recommend it for many students, especially those who have already started surfing and want to continue progressing.
